7 Amazing Things to do in Cusco peru

cusco plaza de armas

7 Must See Sites in Cusco

Cusco Peru, nestled roughly 11,000 feet in the Andes mountain range, is a large city with plenty of culture to experience! While many people go through Cusco on their way to Machu Picchu, there’s also some interesting things to see there before you leave.

It’s even one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with its rich history from the Inca’s to the Spanish Conquistadors, there’s no shortage of things to do and see in Cusco.

The following 7 places are in my opinion, some of the best places Cusco has to offer.

  1. Saqsaywaman
  2. Qorikancha
  3. Plaza De Armas
  4. San Blas
  5. San Pedro Market
  6. Sacred Valley
  7. Tambomachay

Saqsaywaman

Saqsaywaman

On the outskirts of Cusco (a tiring hike up the hillside) lay the Saqsaywaman citadel ruins. Originally built around 1,100 AD, the ruins were built by the Killke people and have the obvious architectural traits of the Inca where the rocks are placed together without mortar.

An important note when visiting the site is to have cash (sols) on hand and it costs around 70 sols per person depending on if you’re a student, local, etc. Don’t be like me and forget to bring money and assuming they’ll take card.

I personally loved walking the ruins and there is also an overlook so you can view the city of Cusco below. It’ll be easy to see the view and take it in if you leave in the morning, as there wasn’t much foot traffic around while we were there. By the afternoon the ruins did start to get a little crowded.

Qorikancha

Qorikancha

Noticeable from the Avenida El Sol (the main road cutting through Cusco), Qorikancha is another well preserved ruin from the Incan empire. While it was used for other reasons by the Inca, the Spanish Conquistadors built a church in its location during their conquest. While there is a lot of religious history surrounding the site, there are remains of the original Inca masonry.

To get into Qorikancha will cost roughly 15 sols so it’s very affordable and if you’re a history buff it’s well worth it!

Plaza De Armas

cusco plaza de armas

As you may have guessed from the name, this site is a plaza in Cusco. It’s the main square in Cusco where they have numerous shops, famous churches, and amazing restaurants.

The week we spent there had us stumbling through the square multiple times, whether it was to eat or as a meeting spot for guides. Each time we found our way to the square, there was some celebration or parade going on. If you’re there for a few days you’ll notice the same, the Cusco natives love to have festivals!

I strongly recommend checking out the churches in the square and trying the restaurants as the cuisine was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Our favorite was the Inca Grill, as it offered a small menu with nothing but great choices.

San Blas

Hiking San Blas

After visiting Plaza De Armas, why not make your way to San Blas? San Blas is north and northeast of Plaza De Armas and is up quite a few staircases.

One of my favorite parts of going to San Blas wasn’t just seeing the area, but the walk up to San Blas from Plaza de Armas. Taking the ancient Incan road to San Blas, you’ll see the infamous 12-angled stone wall and numerous shops along the way.

There is a lot of information on San Blas and depending on your interests there are a few possibilities on what to see, so I recommend checking this guide for Peru to help learn more about it!

San Pedro Market

You’ll eventually want some souvenirs and maybe some native cuisine, right? The San Pedro Market is the perfect place to pick up any neat gifts and souvenirs you may have noticed around (just make sure to bring cash, as not everyone takes cards).

They also have some very interesting choices for food, from meats to numerous kinds of potatoes. Be wary if you’re a vegan, as we were walking into the market in the morning, a man was carrying an entire pig through the walkway and most of the meat hasn’t been fully chopped on display.

The Sacred Valley

Sacred Valley

This was one of my favorite parts of the trip to Peru. Some of the Inca Trail passes through the valley, so you get to experience the history of the trail and see the gorgeous mountain ranges! When I say gorgeous, the views aren’t hard to be impressed by.

Although I can’t say for certain if I was impressed by the view, or delirious from the high altitude, either way it was an experience I’d gladly do again!

If you are as concerned for safety as I was, most of the hike we took was safe and even the parts that “seemed” like a drop off, were very secure, and on reaching them weren’t scary at all.

Tambomachay

Another Inca site but it isn’t certain exactly what the purpose of it was. Whether it was a military outpost, or a spa house is still up for debate. It is a multi-terraced structure with numerous aqueducts and canals that run through the rocks.

There are tours to view the site as it’s on the border of Cusco and is usually best with a local explaining the history. If you’re looking for more information, I highly recommend this site.

FAQ’s and Tips about Cusco

What is the currency in Cusco Peru?

The officially currency of Peru is the Sol, also denoted as PEN.

How do I deal with altitude sickness?

Many people experience altitude sickness when they first travel to Cusco. It’s not much of a surprise that it may cause people some issue when the city itself is 3,400m (11,000ft) above sea level. So, to help cope, most places sell small tablets to conquer the altitude. Also make sure to stay very well hydrated as your body will be working a little harder to get oxygen. Finally, try some of the coca leaves! They aren’t bad for you and you will notice a slight difference and it will help the headaches.

What is the local language?

Spanish is the local language in Peru and if you’ve taken any formal general Spanish courses, you’ll notice it’s similar. While there are dialects depending on where you go, most of the Spanish in Cusco is easy to understand if you know the basics of formal Spanish.

10 Must See Castles in Germany

neuschwanstein

Germany’s Best Castles

One of my favorite things about living in Germany was visiting the numerous castles spread throughout the country.

Apparently, there are roughly 20,000 castles in the country, while the count may be off a little because of how castles are defined in different districts. From personal experience, I can attest there are a lot!

I can’t remember a road trip through Germany where I didn’t see at least one small castle on a hill somewhere. In fact, there are even castle hotels in Germany that allow you to stay at the castle!

So even if these castles aren’t what you’re looking for, I guarantee you’ll stumble on plenty of others!

Let’s get to it! These are (in my opinion) the best castles to see while you’re in Germany!

Neuschwanstein

This one shouldn’t come as a surprise and will be on every list of “castles in Germany”.

This fairy-tale castle is one of the most visited in Europe, averaging roughly 6,000 visitors a day! A lot of the rooms are open to view and walk through, so you get to experience much more than the outside.

When we first went to Neuschwanstein, it had been on my bucket list for years. Finally seeing it in person made was well worth the wait.

Once you get to the castle, there’s a short hike from a small town below up to the front gate. At first it looks like a normal castle (albeit very well maintained). Once you get inside, the history starts to fill your lungs and the castle only gets better the longer you’re there.

If you have the time, there’s an adjacent mountain to the hill the castle sits on. It can be easily reached with a cross of a bridge and short hike. This hillside gives some of the best views of the Neuschwanstein castle and is where many of the famous pictures come from.

Hohenzollern

Hohenzollern

Hohenzollern was the first castle I ever went to in Germany and it set some pretty high expectations for the rest.

After numerous constructions and rebuilds, the Hohenzollern castle takes up a fair amount of space on top of Hohenzollern Mountain. It can easily be seen from the road leading up to it and almost looks small from a distance. But don’t be fooled, there’s a lot of castle to explore!

Like many castles in Germany, Hohenzollern also has an onsite restaurant that I recommend. There’s nothing better than indulging in German history and food!

Schloss Heidelberg

Heidelberg

The earliest structures of this castle were built in the early 1200s, so it’s been a part of German history for a very long time. Its age is not the only interesting part of Schloss Heidelberg. The castle has been under numerous different rulers and once burned after being struck twice by lightning.

The castle has been reconstructed multiple times because of its unlucky history. But today it still stands strong atop overlooking the city of Heidelberg.

I recommend getting a tour of the grounds as there’s a lot to learn about the castle and the town below. Additionally, there’s a lot more to do in the city of Heidelberg and I loved every minute I spent exploring the city.

Lichtenstein

Lichtenstein

Located on the edge of the Swabian Alps, The Lichtenstein Castle is precariously positioned on the side of a small cliff. Similar to Schloss Heidelberg, this castle has gone through being destroyed and rebuilt multiple times.

Despite its rough history, it still stands strong and is a must-see destination for lovers of history.

Also, make sure you don’t go during December or January when the castle is closed. The first time we went, I made the mistake of assuming they were open during the winter. Surprise, they weren’t.

Mespelbrunn

Mespelbrunn

Remember all of those stories and movies growing up of moated castles with angry alligators in them? This is one of those castles! Ok, maybe there aren’t alligators swimming in the moat, but this castle still has a really cool moat.

Mespelbrunn isn’t the largest castle on the list, so don’t expect this to be an all-day touring event. That being said, there is still plenty to see and enjoy here!

Schwerin Castle

Schwerin

Another fairy-tale castle that will leave you awestruck; the Schwerin Castle is one of the best maintained castles in Germany.

The castle grounds are incredibly well kept, and gardens remind me of the scenery in Alice in Wonderland. Expect to be overwhelmed with the beauty and if you’re a real history buff, make sure you sign up for their guided tour through the castle!

Burg Rheinstein

The longer I go into this list, the more nostalgic I get for the home I had in Germany. This castle brings back even more memories of movie castles overlooking rivers and drawbridges to let in friends. Yes, the drawbridge for this castle is fully functional!

The castle overlooks the Rhine and is known as the Romantic Burg Rheinstein due to it’s amazing views and calming vibe. So, if you’re looking for a place to spend a romantic getaway during your time in Germany, this castle should be at the top of your list!

Burg Eltz

Burg Eltz in Germany Castle

A castle pulled directly from the Middle Ages, Burg Eltz holds a historic fantasy of a 1300s Germany.

Burg Eltz has the unique aspect of not being ravaged/damaged by war or disaster. It seemed many of Germany’s castles met unfortunate times, but Burg Eltz remains unscathed. In fact, many of the original furnishings are still in the castle today.

We’re also avid hikers and the Eltz area is full of amazing hiking opportunities, making this castle the perfect destination for outdoors enthusiasts.

Sigmaringen

Sigmaringen

The Sigmaringen Castle dominates the hillside overlooking the town below. While the castle has a lot of similar features to most German castles, the architecture has a strangely different feel, despite being so familiar.

Similar to Heidelberg, this castle sits above a city with a lot of attractions of its own, making it a great weekend destination! If you’re looking for a full German experience, castle, food, and experiencing the local economy, Sigmaringen is a great place to do it!

Lowenburg Castle

Visiting Lowenberg Castle will have you on your toes, as you’ll be expecting a dragon to appear and storm in at any moment. This castle is exactly what I picture in my mind when I think of a medieval castle.

Unlike most of the other castles on the list, Lowenburg isn’t that old. Being built in the late 1700’s (construction finished in early 1800’s), this fairy tale palace is actually younger than the United States of America.

Despite its young age, it still has a lot to see and history to offer. The inside itself is astonishing and I highly recommend the tour!

Enjoy the Castles!

Best Castles in Germany

My fondest memories of Germany were exploring castles. If you’re a person who loves to learn about history and walk around fairy-tale structures, then Germany is one of the best destinations to have on your list.

I can’t thank the German university friends I met during my stay as they introduced me to the “art of castle exploration”. If you’re an expat and looking for adventure, it’s one the best things you can do while you’re here.

Don’t forget to take a break from the sights and enjoy some genuine German cuisine as well!

5 BEST Irish Pubs in Stuttgart – Germany

irish bars in stuttgart germany

Best Irish Pubs & Bars in Stuttgart Germany!

I spent a wonderful three years in Stuttgart and had so many amazing experiences.

Germany as a whole has so much to do with the multiple fests, historical sites, and phenomenal beer! While the best place to flavor test German beer is at a fest, they only come around so often. So, what do you do the rest of the year for good beer? Go to a pub!

You can go to any pub in Germany and probably have a good time, but for English speakers and those with a wide range of tastes for beer, an Irish pub is the perfect place to be.

You get to choose from an assortment of different beers, whiskeys, etc., and all within a comfortable environment at any time of the year.

Also, if you’re like me and were stationed in Stuttgart Germany, then you’ll probably have a weekend spot you frequent. I’ve been to all the pubs on this list, but my weekend go-to was always The Auld Rogue (will mention later) as it was right next to Patch Barracks and only a short walk away.

Anyway, let’s get to the list of the best Irish pubs in Stuttgart!

The Auld Rogue

auld rogue

I probably spent a third of my weekends in Germany at this Irish pub. They offer beer and whiskey tastings throughout the year and I highly recommend getting tickets to both!

The price for the tickets compared to the drinks you get to taste are more than worth it, and they aren’t skimpy on the samples.

The Auld Rogue is also a common bar for local US military due to its proximity to one of the barracks.

So, if you’re also stationed in Stuttgart and looking for a bar that shows American Football and has a well-versed English-speaking staff, then you’ll find a home here.

Biddy Early’s Irish Pub

Biddy Earlys

This pub is another favorite of mine but located closer to downtown Stuttgart. They have live music on scheduled nights and a lot of different options for drinks.

Biddy’s is more than a simple Irish pub though and has very pleasing menu for food! Every time I was here, I also noticed a very young crowd. It seemed like this was a pub for everyone, but a favorite of those who were in their early 20’s.

O’Reillys Irish Pub

OReillys Irish Pub

I think the name gives away that it’s an Irish pub, but it does offer a different atmosphere than some. Like the others I’ve mentioned, this bar offers some great draft beer and a variety of drink options. But what makes this Irish bar a little bit different is their Tuesday night pub quiz!

So, if you like trying to solve difficult trivia while you inebriated, this is the place to be!

Paddy’s Irish Pub

Paddys Bar

A smaller cozy pub, Paddy’s is my place to go for a Kilkenny or Murphy’s Red. Like Biddy Early’s, Paddy’s offers live music on Friday’s and Saturdays.

If you want to wait for a good time to be here, I recommend in the summer when they open their beer garden for extra seating. Some of my favorite times in Germany were sipping on a cool beer in the summer sun!

The Dubliner

The Dubliner

Another great live music Irish pub, the Dubliner has A LOT of space to move around in comparison to the other pubs on the list. They have some of the best food on the list and seating in a comfortable wide-open space.

I don’t mind finding cramped bars every now and then, but it does feel nice to not bump elbows when grabbing a drink. If that’s your pet peeve, then the Dubliner is perfect.

Stuttgart Bars and Pubs!

best irish pubs in stuttgart germany

After three years in Germany, I still didn’t try all the beers I wanted to at each pub. The vast majority of beers and whiskeys I tried, I loved. So, don’t be concerned about trying something new, it’ll most likely still be amazing.

If you have other pubs or bars to recommend in Stuttgart, please leave a comment below!

There’s one for just about every moment of every trip I’ve taken, but these 50 are my absolute favorite vacation memes!

Funniest Travel Memes – 2020

Feel free to share these vacation memes on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, or anywhere else! We love to share the love of travel!

7. Another one, for how often I don’t have leg room.

Just imagine, a budget flight with no layovers and you can extend your legs greater than a 90 degree angle.

It doesn’t happen often, but seeing that door close with no one next to me is the best feeling on a plane. Did someone say “comfortable plane nap”?

5 BEST HOOKAH BARS IN PROVIDENCE RI

Best Hookah Bars in Providence RI

5 Best Hookah Lounges in Providence RI

It’s a relaxing evening and you have a craving for some hookah, chill vibes, and good drinks. There are loads of things to do in Providence and thankfully there are also places that will fill those cravings.

Having traveled to numerous places in Europe and the Middle East, we’ve tried hookah in quite a few different places. It tastes a bit different everywhere and a lot of the quality comes from how it’s prepared. So, for the places that we’re reviewing tonight, we’re looking at places that not only had good choices of flavor, but hookah bars that prepared everything just right!

Be sure to read about each one in their descriptions, because some of these are hookah bars and some are a “sit down and eat” type dinner places that also serve hookah.

1. Nara Hookah Bar

Nara Hookah Lounge Providence

The Nara Lounge is a Middle Eastern café right on Atwells. They offer a full bar and some delicious choices for hookah! While I don’t usually eat when I smoke hookah, this place is the exception for me. They offer a lot of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine like Kibbee and Grape Leaves, food that’s fairly hard to find done right. There’s also plenty of space to move around and so don’t worry about being cramped.

2. SYN Hookah Lounge

Byblos Providence Hookah

The SYN Hookah lounge takes the second spot on our list after Byblos closed for Covid-19 and has not mentioned a reopening date. SYN offers a great atmosphere with drinks and music. The lounge is on the smaller side but not necessarily cramped and is located just off Atwells Ave.

3. Sky Lounge

This one is near Providence but in Smithfield. I wanted to add it since it’s already close to the area and Twin River Casino. I know plenty of people who frequent the casino for fun and Sky Lounge is a great place to start the fun or end it. The lounge can also be rented for larger events, so if you have a celebration coming up and want a hookah, look no further!

4. Pasha

Pasha Hookah bar Providence

This was actually the first hookah bar I ever went to in Rhode Island. It’s a relaxing environment and they have a full bar to go along with some quality shisha. I know it sounds weird, but I’m also a fan of “bar food” and the wings they had here was just right. I had heard rumors that it can get packed occasionally, but the few times I’ve been there we had plenty of room and always found a spot.

5. Tel Aviv Waterfront

I saved this one for last because it’s much more than a simple hookah lounge. A much more upscale establishment, the Tel Aviv Waterfront has a variety of menu options that would appease anyone with a Middle Eastern tongue or cravings of a New Englander. On top of great food and hookah, they offer a selection of cigars as well. While I’m not a cigar fan personally, it does add a little extra to their menu that you might like!

About Shisha Bars in Providence

This post was to focus on the top 5 hookah lounges in Providence Rhode Island. There are other hookah bars in Rhode Island, but these come with the biggest guarantee of a good time.

Be mindful that since the Covid-19 pandemic, regulations have changed at each place, and visiting may be subject to some rules.

If you have any questions or newer recommendations, be sure to leave them in the comments below!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Hookah Lounges 18+?

Many hookah lounges do require customers to be over the age of 18 years old. However, some may double as restaurants and allow younger ages but not allowed to smoke. Some hookah lounges even require you to be 21 to smoke a hookah.

It’s best to call an establishment ahead of time to request the age requirement as some may not list the requirement on their website (or be outdated).

Are Hookah Lounges Expensive?

Hookah is fairly priced but can be expensive depending on the establishment. The cost of hookah tobacco may cost more than a pack of cigarettes also depending on the brand. Overall, you can expect to pay a fair price considering you don’t have to prepare or maintain the hookah itself.

Is There A Difference Between Shisha And Hookah?

The terms are commonly referred to as one and the same. Shisha comes from the Persian word for glass, shishe. While the term hookah is used to describe the pipe that the tobacco is smoked through. Despite the subtle differences between the two words, many places will use them to describe the same thing.

Do Hookah Lounges Serve Alcohol?

It’s fairly common practice for most hookah lounges to also act as a bar. While there may be some exceptions, it’s safe to expect most hookah lounges to also serve alcohol.

Check out more of Rhode Island!

Providence has a wide variety of things to do and great places to eat. But, Providence is all there is in Rhode Island and Newport offers some amazing eats and sites!

5 BEST PLACES TO EAT IN CUSCO PERU

Best Places to Eat in Cusco Peru

Best Places to Eat in Cusco

Our trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu was amazing! Aside from the headache and slight dehydration from the first day (the altitude is not your friend) everything else was awesome and we quickly acclimated.

I think what helped the most was that we found medicine at a local store specifically for altitude sickness, so remember that! The medicine in conjunction with some coca tea had us feeling fine within the day.

Thankfully we felt better, which meant finally enjoying the trip and trying some authentic Peruvian food!

Be warned though, this guide is not vegan/vegetarian friendly. There are meats mentioned in this guide! To specify, common Peruvian dishes do include Alpaca and Guinea Pig. Mind you, those aren’t the only options at the restaurants and there are plenty of other options!

Many of the places we ate were at Plaza De Armas, as it was the city center and had numerous options.

  1. Inka Grill
  2. Limbus restobar
  3. Pachapapa
  4. Uchu Peruvian Steakhouse
  5. A random restaurant at Plaza De Armas

Inka Grill

This was one of our favorite restaurants for quality. It’s not the cheapest place on the block, and sadly the portion sizes could’ve been a bit bigger, but overall, I loved it.

This was the place we decided to try Cuy (guinea pig) as well! I can’t say I’ll ever eat it again, but we tried it for the sake of the experience, and it was surprisingly delicious. Don’t worry if you’re not into trying it, Inka Grill has other selections as well that were also tasty!

Limbus Restobar

Limbus Restobar

While in Cusco, we met a group of people and all decided to go out for drinks in the evening. This was the restaurant of choice and was surprised at how potent their cocktails were. On top of great drinks, they had a delicious Tex Burger and local Peruvian delights.

I highly recommend getting a reservation for the evening though, as it gets crowded and overlooks the city, making it a top choice for everyone.

Pachapapa

Pachapapa has a nice selection of different dishes to try and all are reasonably priced. My personal preference, if you are planning on trying Alpaca while you’re in Cusco, then Pachapapa’s signature dish is a marinated alpaca brochette with assorted potatoes and delicious Andean cheese! It’s also a great place to try the Crema Volteada, a Peruvian flan!

Uchu Peruvian Steakhouse

Steak-Cusco

This place has some of the best meat dishes in Peru! I recommend getting the lamb and fries, but all their dishes looked delectable. Even though it’s a steakhouse, there are vegan/vegetarian options as well. They really cater to anyone’s taste, even having gluten free options.

A Random Restaurant at Plaza de Armas

Cusco City Center

I know, this is a restaurant. But while we were in Cusco, we tried 95% of the restaurants in the city center and were never disappointed.

Every night and some afternoons, we walked around the center and let the people outside pitch their menu to us and tried a new one every time. That’s why I recommend doing the same, support the local restaurants and give them a shot!

As a hint, look for one that has the upstairs open in the evening, that way you can overlook Plaza de Armas as you enjoy your meal and a cool Pisco Sour!

If you have any other suggestions for places to eat in Cusco, please leave them below! Also, if you want to share this post, please feel free to use the image below!

What to Eat in Prague – [CZECH’S FOOD GUIDE]

What to Eat in Prague

What to eat in Prague?

Prague (Praha) is a city with rich history, great architecture, and amazing food!

The dishes I had while I was there weren’t the normal European meals I was accustomed to and had a slightly different take depending on the restaurant we went to. That’s just the food though, the beer was a whole other story that left my taste buds in heaven.

So, what were these awesome meals and what should you eat when you go to Prague?

The answer is obviously going to depend on taste and dietary restrictions. This guide is going to focus on a variety but try and stay towards Czech specialties that we came across.

What makes Czech Cuisine?

Czech cuisine goose

Some of you may be thinking, “It’s just meat or vegtables that’s been cooked? It can’t be that different form other European foods!”.

Well, let me get you your first-class ticket on the train of wrongness! While Czech dishes have a strong foundation in European cuisine, they aren’t the same and bring a blend of Eastern and Western Europe food into one place.

The food is also not known for being light and small. The meals will be jam packed full of carbs and will most likely need to be washed down with a thick Czech beer!

What food should I look for in Prague?

Goulash soup

As mentioned earlier, the list is extensive! Prague has a lot to offer and numerous tastes that will light up or taste buds. But here are the best traditional Czech food and dishes!

Czech Soups!

Potato Soup Prague

Czech meals often start with a soup and they have some decent variety when it comes to them.

Some common soups you’ll come across are the Chicken Noodle, Potato, and Garlic Soups. All of them are delicious and unless you have a taste for it, I would steer clear of the Sauerkraut soup.

Czech Meals

Czech Sausage

The Czech Republic isn’t a new place, so of course they have accumulated a number of main dishes. To make it easier to read, they’ll be listed out below.

  1. Beef Goulash with Dumplings – A thick and hearty beef stew (a personal favorite) with dumplings (knedlíky)!
  2. Roasted Pork with Sauerkraut – Nothing exotic about roasted pork, but the people of Czech have a special way of preparing it that I can’t mimic. While this dish is served with Sauerkraut, it is common to also see it with Dumplings instead.
  3. Beef Sirloin (Svíčková) with Dumplings – This is usually served with a vegetable cream sauce and may come with whipped cream! Not the usual combination I know, but surprisingly delicious!
  4. Pork Schnitzel and Potatos
  5. Roasted Duck with Sauerkraut and Dumplings
  6. Czech Sausage (klobásy) – If you’ve ever been to Germany then this is similar to what you’ll see there. All over the city will have sausage stands that are ready to serve a delicious Czech snack that will be very welcomed!

If you haven’t noticed, dumplings are fairly popular and aren’t the same ones you might be used to if you’re from the U.S. They are still bread, but it’s not the same type and aren’t meant to have butter added to them. While different, they were one of my favorite food items I had in Prague and highly recommend them to anyone traveling there!

Czech Beer!

Czech beer Prague

Beer in Prague is like no other I’ve had. I remember reading the first menu at a local restaurant and seeing “Blueberry beer”, it sounded out of place which immediately triggered my interest. Imagine my surprise when I took my first sip and the delicious taste of blueberries filled my taste buds.

The Czech people have a way of brewing great beer and while I had a few that I preferred, I think it’s best to try whatever the locals suggest while you’re there!

Londons Top Attractions

London is a beautiful city with a rich history! Linn and I spent around a week here (it was my second trip though), and it still didn’t seem long enough to experience everything we wanted to. After the trip, I started thinking “what are the must see places for tourists in London?” and figured it might be helpful to give the prices as well!

Don’t feel bad if you only have a short time to spend in London though, there are convenient short term itineraries that break down the best things to see!

So here’s a quick breakdown of London’s Top Attractions and the price of admission for an adult to enter/see the site. Mind you, the price for children and or younger adults will usually be cheaper, as well as discounts for elderly.

BEST Places to Eat in Honolulu Hawaii

Best Places to Eat in Honolulu

What are the Best Places to Eat in Honolulu?

Hawaii is a great destination for relaxing or adventure. The collection of activities and things to do in Honolulu especially is surprising, since most people tend to think that it’s a small place. But oh, how people are wrong in their assumptions of Hawaii and its best city (in my opinion).

But we’re not here to talk about the wonderful list of things to do around the island, we’re here to talk about FOOD!

Honolulu has numerous restaurants to fit your taste, no matter what it is. This short list won’t encompass the most variety, but it will have the best of the best for truly tasting the Hawaiian culture!

Aloha Steak House

aloha steakhouse

Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, Aloha Steak House is a great place for any meat lover. Offering savory steak, shrimp, and classic Hawaiian dishes will excite just about anyone regardless of preference.

If you decide to partake in their delicious steak, they serve it on a bed of rice or on a salad (bed of greens), both go great with their Maui sauce! The menu is limited to just large portions of meat and seafood though, if you’re traveling with kids then they’ll also be well taken care of with a delectable dining experience.

Earl Kaka’ako

Earl Kakaako

An amazing sandwich shop on 11th ave, Earl’s offers a variety of quick bites and teas. This isn’t going to be some fancy place you have your 10th wedding anniversary at, but it’s good for fast food that doesn’t have a fast food taste, quality with speed.

Real Gastropub

Real Gastropub Honolulu

Craft beer and a wide selection of food, the Real Gastropub is a great dining spot to spend the evening, just relaxing and munching on chicken wings.

I’m personally a burger fan, so the Bent Tail Burger would be my go-to. But if you’re looking for seafood or even smaller bites, they have plenty of options to choose from!

Helena’s Hawaiian Food

Helenas Hawaiin Food

Originally opening in the late 1940’s, Helena’s Hawaiian Food has collected numerous awards and the heart of the locals as a must try. Now run by Helena’s grandson, the restaurant remains a staple of Hawaiian cuisine!

Thyda’s Tacos

Thyda's Tacos

Thyda’s is a small taco shop on Queen st serving tacos, quesadilla’s, and rice bowls.

They have a small menu and to me that’s preferred. A restaurant serving everything may be good, but a restaurant that specializes tends to be great! So if you’re looking for a quick lunch that won’t cost a fortune, I highly recommend Thyda’s.
